Intraoperative brain mapping during awake surgery in symptomatic supratentorial cavernomas

Complete resection of symptomatic supratentorial cavernoma (SCA) and removal the surrounding gliotic area is recommended to minimize risk persistent seizures or (re)bleeding. Surgery SCA located in an eloquent area, can carry out severe postoperative neurological morbidity. We report a study aimed assess feasibility, extent outcome after surgical CA by cortico-subcortical intraoperative brain stimulation (ioBS) awake patient. Six patients diagnosed on operated while under local anaesthesia ioBS, were included. Preoperative planning included neuropsychologic assessment language-related functions, sociocognitive functions executive functions. Intraoperatively, we recorded results achieved planned neuropsychological tasks when was applied (cortical subcortical). Postoperative control 3D MRI scheduled at 1 month surgery calculate resection.
